This bowfront vitrine was commissioned to hold a collection of small ceramic English cottages, yet my clients live in a large, contemporary home in southern California. I tried to reconcile this paradox by keeping the lines of this piece simple and by using an open pored wood (hickory). Also, by using such a strong wood I was able to keep the various frame members as light as possible even though this piece is over six feet tall. |
