When I delivered the humidors to our client one Sunday night before Christmas, he called up his best friend and told him to come over because he had a surprise for him. The friend was bushed and didn't really want to leave his house. Our client said to him, "How long have I known you? And how many times have I told you to drop what you were doing and come over to my house? Twenty years and never. Come on over."

When his friend showed up, Jason said to him that he had commisioned a bunch of humidors and that he should check them out. His friend was a little confused as to why Jason wanted five humidors, but when Jason told him to pick one for himself, his eyes lit up like little kid's in a candy store: he couldn't believe it. After checking them all out, still somewhat speechless, he chose this maple one.

When you build pieces on speculation and try to sell them in galleries, you don't often get the opportunity to see people experience your work in person. That look on our client's friend's face was one of the most gratifying experiences I have ever had as a woodworker.
