I first fell in love with Planchonia while I was building Table: When It's a Bowl . It's a beautiful reddish wood with streaks of purple and brown and an even, open-grained texture. I knew that it would complement the Honduran Redwood extremely well.

The only reason they call this wood Honduran Redwood is that it is red and it comes from Honduras. It is absolutely not a relative of the redwood that grows in California; the stuff is so dense that it sinks in water.
