Rather than just gluing a couple of dowels into a board, as my father-in-law envisioned, I felt that this magic wand deserved a more fitting home. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is, on the surface, an overtly Krenovian wall cabinet. It serves to both house and display the bone, but also to shroud it in mystery. For example, since the coopered door is fully let into a rabbet and has no handle, the only way to open it is via a secret button on the cabinet's bottom. If you look at the lower righthand corner of the picture below you can see the part of the button which pushes the door open.
