China cabinet

This cabinet was begun with the idea of reproducing one of my favorite of JK's pieces, the Pagoda Cabinet.

Wishing for greater capacity than the modest dimensions of that cabinet (about 61" h x 25" w) would allow, and realizing that resizing Jim's piece would only ruin a good thing, I was forced to come up with something different while still retaining the feeling of clean simplicity that I admired.

Few woods convey the sense of strength and cleanliness as well as Douglas fir.

The shelves in the upper case are glass that have a wooden cap on the face edge.
